Creative Movement uses the child's natural movement as a foundation to build
upon. Children will discover and explore the joy of movement as they develop
body awareness through creative games, stretches, and beginning dance elements.
This class introduces young dancers to dance vocabulary, body position,
creative movement, and musicality. This is a great class to refine dance
skills and to prepare for the older children's dance classes. It is an excellent
introduction the world of dance by combining ballet, jazz, and modern in
an upbeat and nurturing atmosphere!
Children’s Ballet I introduces popular vocabulary and body alignment while
building strength and coordination. Ballet training provides a good experimental
base from which to explore other dance disciplines.
Children’s Ballet II is intended for younger dancers with one or more years
of experience. Older beginners may join with teacher permission. This class
builds on popular vocabulary and body alignment and provides the opportunity
to continue developing basic ballet skills.
Based on the popular adult version of this class, Children’s Hip Hop will
teach younger students isolating movements, rhythms, and basic hip hop techniques.
An introduction to the world of traditional Irish dance! Through jigs, reels,
hornpipes and more, this class will take you one "step" closer
to the Emerald Isle!
Jazz I gives students a strong base in jazz technique from which they can
build on. This class allows the young dancer to develop in an upbeat setting
in which they will experience the discipline of technique and the challenge
of choreography.
Jazz II is intended for the younger dancer with two or more years of experience.
Older beginners may join with teacher permission. This class builds a stronger
base for jazz technique.
This class introduces modern technique, musicality, and body awareness.
Personal choreography will be included and encouraged.
This class introduces young children to the unique style of tap. The child
dancer quickly finds great pride in their work as results of practice are
easily seen.
This class introduces children to the unique style of tap. Children in this
class will benefit from not only learning the tap dance technique, but will
also learn of the rich culture that surrounds it.
A class just for boys! Instructed by a male, this class will focus on masculine
variations of basic dance styles. This class is designed to work heavily
on positions of the arms and upper body, and will reiterate that dance is
not just for girls. While not required, an additional technique class is
encouraged.
This class will introduce the dance form and cover basic elements of Argentine
Tango: connection, musicality, the embrace. The class will teach the essential
vocabulary for a dancer to travel anywhere in the world and dance tango
confidently. Students will learn lead and follow parts for a well-rounded
understanding of the dance.
Basic Ballet introduces proper vocabulary, body alignment, short barre and
center adage and allegro. This class is truly for the beginner. Come and
begin dancing or brush up on the basics.
Ballet I expands on basic technique while still being a comfortable haven
for beginning dancers and those with minimal experience.
Ballet II is designed to provide the adult dancer who has two to three years
of ballet experience with the opportunity to explore an eclectic approach
to classical ballet in a relaxed atmosphere.
Ballet III is designed to provide the adult dancer who has four to five
years of ballet experience with the opportunity to explore an eclectic approach
to classical ballet in a relaxed atmosphere. The pace of this class is intended
to challenge!
Pointe is for the more technically advanced student and taught in conjunction
with Ballet III. This class focuses on the necessary strengthening and stretching
of the feet required for Pointe work along with the standardized movements
unique to this dance form.
This is a class of tribal fusion style belly dance, which incorporates elements
of American Tribal Style combined with other styles of belly dance. The
class is designed to be friendly to beginning and intermediate dancers;
those who already have some knowledge of belly dance will be given tips
for improving their form and improvising with fusion techniques.
Contact Improvisation is a dance technique in which points of physical contact
provide the starting point for movement improvisation and exploration. Contact
Improvisation is a form of dance improvisation and is one of the best-known
and most characteristic forms of postmodern dance. Contact Improvisation
will help dancers release muscle tension and develop assertiveness, concentration
and sensitivity while experiencing dialog in movement.
Learn various hip hop dance styles while getting a good heart pumping workout.
In this class, we spend a small amount of time on strength and conditioning
and learn faster, more in-depth combinations to various hip hop styles.
This class is intended for those who have previous dance experience, pick
up combinations quickly, and most importantly, for those who want to sweat!
This class is an introduction to the basic techniques and aesthetic of Irish
dance. Students will learn the fundamentals for both solo and group dancing.
This class emphasizes both individual musicality and teamwork in a non-competitive
Irish dance environment. No previous experience necessary.
For students with previous Irish step experience or with teacher permission.
This class will focus on more advanced steps, figure dances and choreography
for softshoe reel and slip jigs as well as incorporating significant hardshoe
work in hornpipe, treble jig and treble reel.
This class includes sections which focus on various jazz dance styles and
the building blocks for Jazz dance. Combinations suited to the styles of
jazz learned are then constructed. Some styles of jazz that students learn
will include East Coast Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Lyrical Jazz and Modern Jazz.
This class builds on the above class sections. Combinations are longer and
more complicated. It is recommended that dancers have at least one year
of jazz experience or some other dance form. Some styles of jazz that students
will learn include Commercial Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, Modern Jazz, and Broadway.
Modern I/II is designed to provide the teen and adult beginner with a foundation
in basic contemporary dance technique, improvisation, and basic floor work,
along with moderately advanced combinations of movement, including improvisational
movement, technique exercises, strength and balance exercises, floor work,
and combinations across the floor.
A challenging and demanding technique class for experienced dancers! Come
join members of the Windfall Dancers Company for this advanced class with
incorporates contact improvisation, choreography, and more.
This class is perfect for anyone interested in auditioning for musical theatre
or show choirs. This class will focus on choreography, facial expressions,
and stage presence.
Pilates is a non-dance physical fitness system. Pilates focuses on the core
postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential
to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach
awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and strengthen the deep
torso muscles, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.
This fun class is taught in an easygoing and upbeat fashion designed as
a getaway for the adult dancer. Tap is a very useful technique for anyone
interested in performing in musical theatre! If you’ve always dreamed of
being a tap dancer, this is your chance!
This class is designed for the tap dancer with previous experience. It is
a faster paced class in which students are able to explore the never ending
rhythm creations of tap dance.
